Euro 2028 office sweepstake and predictor
A home tournament, twenty-four teams and a month of matches half the office will watch anyway. Here is how the Office Rivals version will work, in your Slack or Google Chat channel.
Being straight with you: Euro 2028 is not built yet, and it cannot be. The tournament is two summers away. This page is the dates, the format and the plan.
9 June to 9 July 2028, across the UK and Ireland
Four nations hosting together, and for most offices reading this the tournament is in the same time zone for the first time since 1996.
The shape of the summer
- Fri 9 Jun 2028
- Opening match, National Stadium of Wales, Cardiff.
- 9 to 24 Jun
- Group stage, 36 matches across six groups of four.
- Late June
- Round of 16, then the quarter-finals.
- Tue 4, Wed 5 Jul
- Semi-finals, both at Wembley.
- Sun 9 Jul 2028
- Final, Wembley Stadium, London.
Per UEFA's confirmed Euro 2028 match schedule. Fixtures depend on qualifying, so this page changes after the draw.
The format
- 24 teams in six groups of four, the same shape as the last three Euros.
- 51 matches over 31 days, about one prediction card per working day.
- Nine stadiums, eight cities, from Cardiff and Dublin to Glasgow, Newcastle and London.
- No automatic host places. All four hosts still have to qualify, which is its own office argument between now and 2027.
A sweepstake lasts five minutes. A predictor lasts a month.
Worth deciding before June 2028 arrives and somebody prints a list of names.
The classic sweepstake pulls a country out of a hat and that is the whole game. Five minutes, no knowledge needed, everybody in: that is why it survives. The flaw is the one everyone has lived through. Most of the office is holding a team that has gone home by about day twelve of thirty-one.
Euro 2028 will be a predictor instead, built on what runs today. One person runs one command in a channel and everyone in it is in. A card arrives by private message before each match, you tap a result and a scoreline, and it locks at kick-off. Scoring runs on its own, and the reveal and the new table land in the channel the next weekday morning, never at the weekend.
Arsenal vs Coventry City

Pick the exact score for up to 8 pts ๐ฏ - every prediction here is a scoreline:
โ ๏ธ Nothing is saved until you press Lock it in.
Nobody is eliminated, so the designer who has never watched a match is still two points behind the head of sales on the morning of the final. No spreadsheet, no entry fee, no payout.
Why free matters here
No stake, so there is nothing to license.
A paid workplace sweepstake has to satisfy the conditions for a work lottery, and those are hard to meet once a team is remote. Take the money out and there is nothing to license.
Office sweepstake rules in the UK โOne channel, one table
It lives where your office already talks.
No separate website, no account to create, no app on anyone's phone. The channel is the pool and the standings post themselves. Departments are ranked too, so Sales against Engineering is its own month-long argument.

There are two seasons to fill first.
The Premier League, the Champions League, the NFL and Formula 1 run today on one install, free for your first 5 players. Euro 2028 will join the same account.
More than 250 offices played the last tournament this way
Office Rivals began as Office World Cup, which ran through the 2026 tournament.
More than 250 companies ran a pool on this loop, 143 of them with a full squad on the public cross-company table, where Custo won by nearly doubling the tournament average. What we got wrong was arrivals: 64 workspaces installed over two launch days, most of them mid-tournament. That is why a person who joins on day nine now gets their catch-up cards on the spot. Standings are on record at the Office World Cup Hall of Fame.
